Cold chain infrastructure at the heart of the Port of Rotterdam

Europe’s next agrifood gateway

37.8 hectares of integrated logistics infrastructure for refrigerated and frozen food flows. Directly connected to deepsea shipping, inland waterways and European distribution networks.

Rotterdam Food Hub is entering a new phase. Together with Port of Rotterdam and PTP Group, Necron Group is developing 37.8 hectares within Rotterdam Food Hub at the entrance to Maasvlakte. Of this, 7.1 hectares are designated for PTP Group’s terminal and quay. The development combines two large-scale cold storage facilities, a dedicated agrifood terminal, inspection points and an independent energy hub.

Rotterdam Food Hub focuses on refrigerated and frozen agrifood flows from regions including South America, Central America and Africa. In doing so, the development strengthens Rotterdam’s position as an important European gateway for agrifood logistics.

Located on the last large-scale, deep-water-accessible greenfield site in the Port of Rotterdam, the development provides direct access to one of Europe’s most important maritime and logistics hubs.

Built for the future of cold chain logistics

Food logistics is changing rapidly. Larger vessels, growing volumes and increasing pressure on supply chains require infrastructure designed specifically for refrigerated and frozen cargo. Necron Food Park I creates an environment where storage, handling, transport and energy supply are fully integrated.

With the quay infrastructure and the direct waterside connection of the inspection points, Rotterdam Food Hub also creates a unique opportunity in Rotterdam: enabling the reefer chain to be efficiently connected by inland shipping.

Strategic by location

Situated within Europe’s largest seaport, the development combines deep-water access, on-site maritime infrastructure and direct connections to road, rail and inland waterways. This creates a highly efficient gateway between international producers and European consumers.
